EAI International Conference on Innovations and Interdisciplinary Solutions for Underserved Areas

March 24–25, 2018 | Kigali, Rwanda
Special Session:

Optimization and Operational Research

Co-Chaired by:
Diaraf Seck, Professor, University of Cheikh Anta Diop, Senegal
Babacar Mbaye Ndiaye, Professor, University of Cheikh Anta Diop, Senegal

Motivation:
Every business in the world needs to make complex decisions that affect their profitability. Operations Research (OR) provide the tools needed to make these decisions rigorously and effectively. Optimization and OR deal with the applications of advanced mathematical and analytical methods for determining better solutions and decisions to problems.
The aim is to present techniques for optimisation and the theory behind them, but also to use these techniques on real problems, for example minimising cost, maximising production capacity.
We invite submissions covering topics related to OR for development as well as OR applications in government and industry. All of these applications are fundamentally based on theoretical OR and optimization topics.

Non-exhasutive list of such topics:
- Optimization in:
- combinatorial optimization,
- integer programming (linear, quadratic, non-linear)
- nonsmooth optimization
- multicriteria optimization,
- global optimization,
- parallel computing
- stochastic programming,
- variational inequalities,
- optimal control,
- etc.
- OR in:
- transport and logistic,
- multimodal freight network design,
- finance,
- game theory,
- industrial engineering,
- management science,
- water resources management,
- renewable energy system,
- sustainable development,
- natural resources management,
- etc.
