About InterSol 2023

Interdisciplinary Solutions (InterSol) is an international conference dedicated to the advancement of interdisciplinary research that addresses needs in s ‘underserved areas’. Working in Africa, InterSol’s central objectives are to: establish an interdisciplinary research and development community, encourage education in Africa and around the world, and incentivize members of the community to start trans-/interdisciplinary research projects with real-world decision-making impact. Towards this end, during annual conferences, InterSol holds a special roundtable session during which participants discuss opportunities for collaborative research agendas to take forward.

  • How IT can help underserved areas solve grand challenges and address SDGs through  interdisciplinary solutions covering the following topics and areas
  • IT Solutions for Disaster Resilience: Enhancing Networks and Communications with technology for early warning systems, remote monitoring, and efficient disaster response coordination in natural disasters.
  • AI and Data Analytics for Decision Making: Utilizing Multi-Criteria Decision Analysis in Intelligent Systems to address complex situations with multiple criteria in Africa’s technological advancement, poverty reduction, disease control, and hunger alleviation.
  • Retaining Women in STEM: Developing technology-based solutions to mitigate the career attrition of African women in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics fields.
  • IoT and eHealth for Environmental Health: Implementing wearable devices, telemedicine, and other digital health solutions to monitor and mitigate the impact of pollution on human health.
  • Nature-Based Solutions for Climate Change: Using technology such as sensors and drones to monitor and protect ecosystems and deploying other nature-based solutions to mitigate the effects of climate change.
  • Quantifying Ecosystem Services: Using technology to monitor, protect, and enhance green and blue spaces and to measure the value of ecosystem services.
  • Environmental Justice through Technology: Leveraging social media, online platforms, and other technology to raise awareness and engage civil society in environmental justice.
  • Data-Driven Smart Cities: Employing data analytics and AI to support sustainable development and conservation planning and decision-making in urban areas.
  • AI for Africa’s Grand Challenges: Utilizing AI and other technology to tackle grand challenges such as poverty, disease, and hunger in Africa.
  • Gender-Responsive Environmental Migration: Using technology to gather data, monitor, and mitigate the impacts of environmental migration on gender-specific concerns.

Publication

All registered papers will be submitted for publishing by Springer and made available through SpringerLink Digital Library.

Proceedings will be submitted for inclusion in leading indexing services, such as Web of Science, Compendex, Scopus, DBLP, EU Digital Library, IO-Port, MatchSciNet, Inspec and Zentralblatt MATH.
